Factors affecting the service life of infrared quartz tubes and their maintenance.

The infrared lamp propagation speed of the infrared ray heating tube is very fast. Compared to traditional methods such as milky white quartz heating tubes, silicified rubber heating tubes, and stainless steel heating tubes, the infrared lamp heating method has a concentrated energy density and high thermal efficiency. Compared to traditional heating sources, it has strong directional heating, and does not need to heat the entire cavity. It directly heats the objects that need to be heated, which is more efficient and energy-saving. It is also simple to install and easy to control temperature.

 

Therefore, it is widely used in printing, textile, wood, plastic, leather, food, automotive and other industries, mainly for drying, heating, thermal insulation, baking, etc.

 

The service life of infrared light tubes can generally reach 5000-20000 hours. If attention is paid to maintenance during normal use, the service life can be further extended. Many customers feedback that they can use them for 2 or even 4 years. So, how to extend the service life of infrared heating tubes through daily maintenance? Industrial equipment, like our beloved cars, requires regular and irregular maintenance and care, so that it can work well for us.

 

1. Structure description

Infrared quartz heating tube is a transparent quartz glass tube processed by a special process, equipped with high-temperature resistant heating wires, and filled with inert gas inside the quartz glass tube. After being energized, it can protect the infrared quartz heating tube under high temperature conditions, extending the service life of the heating tube. Generally, halogen or tungsten gas is used as protective gas in infrared quartz heating tubes.

 

2. Factors affecting service life

(1) Pipe wall load

High load lamps have low lifespan, and with the same working current, small lamp diameters have low lifespan;

(2) Operating voltage

High lamp voltage reduces service life;

(3) Power density

High power density, low lamp life;

(4) Influence of filaments

The infrared quartz heating tube has a fine filament and low service life;

(5) The quality of quartz glass tubes has a significant impact on the lamp life

Good quartz glass has a high purity, no bubbles inside, and a smooth surface. Because the temperature of the pipe wall is generally above 900 ℃, if the purity is not enough and impurities are present, the glass surface will vaporize, creating many small pits, affecting the infrared radiation from the pipe wall;

3. Maintenance skills

(1) Handle with care and pay attention to strength during installation. According to the information feedback from the market, the biggest reason for heating tube damage is that the quartz tube is damaged, resulting in the heating tube not working properly. The quartz tube used outside the heating tube is fragile, so during installation and use, it is not allowed to damage the quartz tube due to excessive stress, damaging the vacuum environment, and affecting the service life of the heating tube.

(2) The use environment should be clean. Infrared heating tubes are suitable for any heating, drying, and insulation industry, but they prefer a clean environment. If there are heavy dust and oil stains, it is necessary to gently wipe the surface foreign matters with a wet cotton cloth in a timely manner to avoid surface dirt affecting the heat transfer of the heating tube, causing local overheating of the quartz tube, affecting its service life and heating effect.

(3) Reduce equipment vibration. If the equipment vibrates heavily, the heating tube is prone to damage and damage the vacuum environment, affecting its service life.

(4) When using, use aluminum or stainless steel reflective covers, planar or parabolic reflective covers. However, parabolic reflectors are the best: improving radiation utilization and high efficiency.

(5) Quartz heating elements are brittle materials, and attention should be paid to safety during installation and use. Necessary protective measures should be taken according to the specific situation of the heated object during use to avoid mechanical damage.
