As environmental protection requirements become more and more stringent, almost all printing inks require water-based inks, and various coatings, varnishes, etc. also require water-soluble materials. Due to the high specific heat capacity and heat of vaporization of water, the evaporation of water solvent is much more difficult than that of traditional inks. In addition, the chemical components of inks and coatings are mostly organic polymers, and they need to be heated rapidly to promote polymerization.
Compared with traditional hot air heating, infrared heating naturally has many advantages, such as high energy density, good penetration, almost simultaneous drying of the inside and outside of the coating, fast speed and so on.
Water-soluble coatings are widely used in many fields, such as surface treatment of wood, metal, glass, plastic and other materials. How to quickly and effectively cure the coating from the inside out without peeling, bubbling, or cracking? Infrared heating has become the mainstream technology in the baking process, and is adopted by more and more manufacturers as an upgrade solution.
1. Carbon infrared lamp can reduce energy consumption
The wavelength of the infrared radiator has a significant effect on the drying of the paint. Water evaporates rapidly when irradiated with mid-wave infrared light. This is because, compared to SWIR, MWIR radiation is better absorbed and converted directly into heat, which dries water-based paints more efficiently, requiring less energy to perform the same drying process.
2. The characteristics of infrared ray for surface curing of water-soluble coatings:
1. By using the optimal wavelength for effective energy transmission, it has strong penetrating power and can heat both inside and outside.
2. Fast response time, high heat transfer capacity, non-contact heat transfer, energy saving and consumption reduction.
3. Increased production speed can also improve quality while reducing scrap rate and saving costs.
It is precisely because of the above advantages that infrared rays are widely used in furniture, construction, home appliances and other industrial and civilian industries, as well as paint drying equipment and processes in powder spraying lines.
In drying applications for water-based inks and coatings, both mid-wave and short-wave infrared drying are available options. In most cases, mid-wave infrared is the best choice. The super-permeability of infrared rays can dissipate heat to the inside of the coating, thereby curing from the inside out, which solves the problem of surface drying caused by traditional hot air heating. Infrared heating lamps are applied to the surface curing of water-soluble coatings, which is an inevitable optimal solution for the comprehensive choice of environmental protection and economy.
